I must admit that I'm not a bike rider but, it does look like a interesting hobby. The reason I don't ride is when I was a junior in HS a friend of mine bought a Suziki X6 Hustler. He asked me if I wanted to give it a test ride and of course I said yes. When I twisted the handle throttle I got slammed to the back of the seat and couldn't twist it back for a couple moments. I felt like I couldn't control it and it scared the hell out of me, it made a huge impression on me and after wards I swore I would never own one. As years went by I began to understand that motorists don't see bikers on the roads and I'm sure you guys probably have a horror story or two about this.
I respect the fact that you guys get a lot of enjoyment with yours but I guess I wanted to reduce risk in my life and I'm glad our buys never got involved with them. It would have been a tragic ending if one of them had been a victim of a careless driver.

The last one I had was not a Harley, it was a Honda Valkyrie. Six cylinders of pure torque and horsepower. Extremely fast and very smooth riding it. I loved it but it wasn't built for my 35" inseam the controls were in the middle of the bike and made it a little awkard to come off the highway pegs to shift, but I dealt with it. I couldn't deal with the maniacs out there texting and whatever at 80+ MPH. So I sold it for what I paid for it.

Well I am going to the bike show at teh convention center in Dallas this Sunday with my son. He said he did not know for sure if Triumph was going to be there or not but if they are I am going to look at the Rocket III again! It may just be an early Xmas present if they are doing deals on them!

Good for you. I'm thinking real hard about dumping my old truck and picking up something a little newer. I may pull the trigger in January. Most likely will buy a Dodge or a Ford. I dont care for the newer GM models, I think they are unattrative.

I won't drive a Ford and my middle son-in-law won't drive GM or Dodge. I love my Dodge truck, 6.7 diesel, bully dog and edge w/attitude, lost all emissions crap somewhere (Can't remember where it fell off or when) and it is a 1 ton dually Megacab! I have it set up to where it gets between 20 and 21 on the highway on cruise at 65 mph. Go up to 70 and it drops to 19.5. I really like the room and the ride is exceptional for a truck. Don't think I will ever get rid of it! I like it and will continue to drive it until I have to put a new engine in it and drive it some more!

I diesel, stay in teh 07's and earlier! the real deal is to get the diesel prior to the 6.7's being introduced and I believe it was 06! Son has na 06 and he gets better mileage than I do and has the Megacab also. If gas, anything prior to 08 works great. I believe they did the "semi hemi" LMAO in 08 and it works pretty good but does not get the mileage they wanted it to. I really like the diesel and it has made a world of difference in oil changes and tuneups!!

The Dodges I was looking at were all gas jobs and last night I was on asite that showed the mileage and at 12 mpg to 14 mpg is not going to cut it. so I will entertain the deisel. Thanks for your input.

Understand when going to the diesel, the 07 and later with the 6.7 will take some stuff coming off to make them get the mileage and the 06's will be easier to get the mileage up on! either of them will take a programmer to get the best mileage, Bully Dog seems to have the program figured out for squeezing the most out of a gallon. There are a couple of forums out there that I have read a lot on about the different engines and learned a bunch from the guys there. You might want to read about them before biting the bullet. If you are serious about a diesel, let me know and I will share the address for the forum and get you goijng in the right direction!

Yeah, I would like to get 20 or better from a 4X4 then it would be worth my while. Using it sometimes for comuting to work as a break from the usual routine. An 06 will be a little cheaper and if I can find one with under 50,000 mile would be a bonus. There's some driveway queens around up here.

Talked to son today while we were at the motorcycle show at the Convention Center in Dallas and he is talking about trying to get 30 mpg out of his!! He was talking about water meth and maybe adding lpg to it! that's way over my head so I am not advocating this just passing it along from someone who understands the year production you are talking about and what he has researched and is capable of doing! If you get into this stuff, pm me and I will hook you up with him so you can ask him any questions you might have cause you are out of my ballpark with this stuff!!!

I was looking on line at them and I almost choked at the prices. OMG what are they crazy? Over 22K is not my idea of reasonably priced commuteing. I just might keep my truck and rebuild the front end and go with a crate engine. Much cheaper. Sometimes I just cant get myself to pry open the wallet. You never know though I can change direction like the wind. I'll need to do alot more research and soul searching.

I bought mine (07) 6.7 litre diesel 4X4 dually with Megacab and it has everything Dodge offered on it at the time and only gave $27K for it in 08! It had 19K on it and was not even broken in! I would think an 07 would be much less than that!!

No I was looking and they command big $$$, and the ones I saw had 65K+ miles on them. I was heart broken when I saw the prices.

65K miles on a diesel is just beginning to get broken in. Most of the Dodge diesels that I have been around here have gone 300K before any major work of any kind. The transmission, if you haul all the time with it and big heavy loads, you will have a transmission to replace in it before too long! Regular loads by the specs and you should get the 300K before major stuff! You might check in Houston, San Antonio and Fort Smith AR markets to check on pricing. If you need a little help on the procong, friend of mine has dealer license and goes to Mannheim auctions in Dallas and Grand Prairie all the time. If you could save $5 to $8K on diesel truck, might be worth a trip down and drive it back!

That could be a possibilty, I got time yet. I'm not going to do anything until after the first of the year. Thank you very much. I will look down around there. they command top dollar here. Could they throw in a quarter hoarse too? Wifey has always loved riding I would like for her to have her own. I was yalking to her on Sunday about moveing to someplace like Denton Texas and she said she would go with me. I told her she could have a hoarse then.

I got my quarter horse last year late summer. She is 2 1/2 years old, has never run and is a pet more than anything else! She loves for wifey to feed her by hand, wants to be scratched and talked to. She meets me at the gate each morning when I leave to go to work and meets me at the gate when I come in each evening. Course she is looking for feed but she wants the attention also. I got her with papers for the trip to south of town to pick her up! The folks that had her could not afford the vet bill each year and the shots and the feed to keep her. They come see her every month or two and she is just now barely saddle broke. I will not let any of the kids on her just yet but it will not be too long!

Thought I had a little better picture of her but I did not. This one was taken back at the beginning of the summer before the grass had turned really green and the calf had just been born in April. She hangs around the calf and "Blackie", calf's mom. They have become good friends!

Oh, I have a used car dealer that I do a lot of work for! Talked to him this morning and he is going to get me some pricing on some 06 diesels and maybe an 07 before they put the 6.7 in them. We will see what they are going for at the auctions and if you can save some money on one from the auctions here, might pay you to fly down and drive it back!! We will see but it is an option to look at. If for no other reason to compare pricing and make sure you are not getting ripped!

Ok that is nice for you to do that. I went to Dallas and San Antonio Wednesday evening and their prices were the same as up here and they had more miles on them. I'm not a fan of grope and fly. LOL

Only if it means saving enought to justify it! If you could buy it wholesale and hit him with $100 knowing the truck was decent prior to buying it, I think it might be wworthwhile. We will see. He is looking for one and if he comes up with something that will work, might be worth looking at!
