Very nice, I like it. Funny you should post this, yesterday I was doing some plumbing in the crawl space in my house. I was thinking about going to the police station monday after work and applying for a couple of HG permits. A freind of mine e-mailed last week and said a freind of ours was sellong his S&W 686 44 mag for $450. No miles on it, He knows I have an affestion for cannons. I told him I had the money but no permits and wouldn't have until next year. So he bought it in hopes I would change my mind. I was thinking of it BUT also I was thinking about a Kimber Ultra. I have a Christmas club matureing at the end of this month. Soooooo 2 permits would suffice. Good luck with that sweet piece and safe shooting.

I love the old S&W cannons, especially in 44 mag! My 629 4" is a fixture and I always shoot it when I go to the range. Nothing like seeing the fire come out of the end of the barrel! I have a 686 6" in 357 that I love to shoot! Nice revolver to target practice with and pretty cheap to operate! Nice shooting and when moving someone up in a larger caliber, it is a great transition gun because of the size and weight offering little recoil! Couple of my favorite revolvers! I just hate it that you have to get permits to own up there! What a rip!!! Good luck getting them in order!

Once you apply, it takes an average of 6 weeks to be approved. They check to see if you had an epasode with a shrink, if you committed a violent act, warn your employer that you are at it again. Too much red tape.

I talk to several shrinks weekly! (for client matters) I am committing violent acts daily art the courthouse, or so some of the other attorneys say! I am self-employed so it would be okay to cantact me to approve a permit for me!!! How crazy is that!! I probably never would be ble to qualify for a permit up there!!! What a waste of time and money!!

The sic part is only two papers are to be signed and forwarded. As far as warning your employer, thats this a-hole police cheifs doing, I thinks he's a left wing dhead, I could challenge him on it, but I dont know what kind of fallout I would receive from doing so.

AO,
She's a good looker for sure, is this your first 3" barrel model? I've always been attracted to the grips on this gun and the pattern on the sides of the slide that replace the normal serrations. How do you like them? How about the cuts on the flat top of the slide?
I've got the Ultra CDP and it's my EDC and it's very comfortable. What do you intend to use it for?
So far I've got about 400 rounds thru mine without a hiccup.

VV, I do not have it yet! It will be shipped form FL to me on Tuesday.
It is my second Kimber Ultra in 3". I have the Ultra Covert II with crimson trace grips! I love it and carry it daily. I shoot very good with the Kimber and wanted another in stainless just to have for practice, for a backup and to carry in the truck just in case I have not picked up my Ultra Covert II and brought it with me. I had a brand new one on order form the Kimber master dealer I work with and have been waiting for over a month. They are hard to come by for some reason. The guy I work with orders about 20 a month and he just has to guess which ones to order because thay have not shipped the ones that are outstanding when he has to order again to keep some stock!! Crazy world! I am looking forward to getting it in and shooting it to see if it is the same quality and feel that the Ultra Covert II is now. I will let you know next week when it gets here as I will take it out across the driveway and run a couple of hundred rounds through it on my range!!!

It sounds like Kimber is getting pretty arogant when it comes to their dealers. It sounds like the dealers get what ever Kimber decides to build. Just like Henry Ford used to do with cars: "You can have any color you want as long as it's black."

I picked up another source for Kimbers today!! Davidson's out of Arizona has taken me on as a dealer and I am very happy with the selection and pricing on their guns! Bought a Judge, couple of Taurus 24/7, couple of S&W Sigma and a pair of 45's in Springfields for stock. ZGun show on Sat & Sun after T-giving so I wanated to have plenty in stock! Ordered another dozen SCCY 9MM and those sell out as quick as I get them! They are on B/O at the factory for about ten day delivery!! That will make a nice display of about 30 to 35 guns for the gun show! Should be fun!!!

Congrats AO--you're going to be having way too much fun with this deal. Does this mean that you can sell firearms to anyone?

After my freind got the 44, he fell in love with it. So I'm looking into a Kimber custom or a Springfeild TRP or their other hotrod model. I just bid on a S&W 9mm in stainless for wifey. She like the piece I e-mailed to her from Gunbroker. It's used but very little. It's their Tactical model. Should know tomorrow night if she won it. Maybe an early Christmas for her.

I can sell guns to anyone anywhere! If out of state must go to an FFL! I am sorely tempted to shoot the Taurus El Nuez I got in today! 45LC/410 in a revolver 3" and it is SS adn very heavy! Would not have to shoot it butonce, maybe twice but I cannot imagine having to fire it more than that!

45LC's are awesome. I still don't think there is anything that throws fire out the end of the barrel like the old S&W 44 Mags!!!

No sir the 44mag Is a differant breed altogether. An awesome piece. I love my 44 lever action, that thing shoots out fire 3" from the barrel, it's a great brush gun.

When we used to qualify at night whikle at the SO, nobody would stand next to me on the range! The 629 threw out so much fire and such a flash it would blind you if you were not ready for it! Got to the point where everyone wanted me to shoot a qualifying round and then they would shoot!!! LMAO! Wimps!!

Are all the guns you're referring to made by Taurus?

No! S&W, Ruger, Taurus, Springfield Arms, some Kimibers, almost any brand that Davidson's has. They have a website called Gallery of Guns and anything that is on that website, I have access to. I stock Springfield, some Taurus, some S&W and some of the Rugers. Also have some long guns but not many as I like handguns much better!! I do not do it for a living! It is my avocation! Gives me an excuse to write off some expenses to the gun shows, the shot show and to get some goodies at a wholesale pricing!

There are a lot of Glocks, Sigs and Rugers. A few years back, S&W had teh market sewn up but then came the plastic Glocks and evereyone had to have one! I do not own a Glock, never have owned a Glock and guess what? I don't want a Glock! DPS carries sigs and most of the departments around here allow Glocks or S&W or Rugers. Personally I still like my S&W 629 if I had to go out on patrol again. If not that, I would have my Kimber right there witih me and a couple of extra mags at arm's reach. I would be fine with that.

I have a Sig Carry 1911 and love it, it;s a toss up with my Colt Combat Commander, after I replaced all the springs in the Colt it is much better. I'm still decideing betwee the Kimber Custom Shops or the high end Springers. I too would never own a Glock I just dont care for the design. I think in all weather or all conditions, you cant beat a wheel gun. I have never had a failure with mine. I'm glad that the manufacturers added one or two more rounds to them.

I have shot them all and messed with most. The happiest I have ever been is with my Kimbers. I hear all the folks singing the praises of Ed Browns, Dan Wessons and all the other 1911's that start in the $1500 range and up. They are nice guns, very beautiful and certainly smooth operating! However, I have never been able to justify the extra cost involved to get there once I started shooting the Kimbers. I, IMHO, have been able to get my Kimbers out ofo the box, run 300 to 400 rounds through them, clean and lube them and then be completely satisfied with the looks, fee, reliability accuracy and cost in the Kimbers. Untill I have one fail me or break when I don't cause it to, I will be perfectly satisfied and happy to say that I carry and rely on Kimbers. JMHO!!

I like the Kimber although I am not totally sold on them, They are nice looking but the one thing that bothers me, not only with them but every other 1911 manufacturer is that there is no ambi-safety and that sucks pain and simple. It tells me they are not concerned with the "other" people and dont want to add the little bit of extra exspense with doing so. Now The right handers I know will have something to say about my atatement and I dont care. To them I'll say kiss off.

AO,
I had and sold a Glock 19 and it was very reliable, I had no problems with it, however, soon after I bought it I discovered 1911's and immediately bought a Kimber Pro Crimson Carry. I guess it's part of the maturation process with handguns, you live and learn. I don't see myself buying another one at any time in the future but you never know. As for a revolver, I have a Model 29-3 Nickel .44 Magnum with a 4" barrel but what I would really like to have as a revolver is something I can stick in my coat pocket with a 2" barrel and .44 Magnum. As you know I've got two Kimbers and I agree with you that you can't beat the value you get for the $$$ spent. Mine have run flawlessly out of the box they're just amazing.

U.F.--if you're considering a Kimber I'd like to give you a reccomendation:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

This is their "Compact" model with an Officer size frame and a 4" barrel in the slide. I think it's the perfect carry gun because it has a aluminum frame that's been given the "melt" treatment.
