Bureau of ATF Awards Glock Ten-Year Contract

Smyrna, GA- The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) has announced that it has awarded GLOCK, Inc. an unrestricted open market competitive firm-fixed Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) multiple-award contract.

The 10-year contract is valued at up to $40 million. The agreement makes available for the first time both the GLOCK 22 Gen4 and GLOCK 27 .40 caliber pistols to all ATF agents. The terms provide additional Federal Agencies the opportunity to ride on the contract in accordance with the Federal Acquisition Regulations.

"GLOCK is proud to have been competitively selected by the ATF for this contract," said GLOCK Vice President Josh Dorsey. "GLOCK was chosen over others due to the new design features of the Gen4 pistol and GLOCK's Safe Action System as well as reliability and durability that have made GLOCK pistols famous. GLOCK's focus remains on providing safe, simple and fast pistols to those that go in harm's way to protect the freedom that we all currently enjoy. Our firearms are designed for these individuals to succeed and survive in any situation and we stand ready to not only meet U.S. Government requirements, but to exceed them."

GLOCK pistols are the first choice among consumers and law enforcement, with 65% of agencies nationwide choosing to carry GLOCK.

Thats impressive. I dont know very much about the Glock's. I always looked at them as an ugly duckling. Does any one have one? Are they that good?

All I know is there were several being unloaded at a gun show within the last year and they were in the original boxes. One went off and caused several to discharge in original factory packing. Don't ask why they were being moved around while loaded in the boxes but that was in the paper. I for one don't trust any handgun wihtout a manual safety! I don't have a handgun that does not have a manual safety. I will not own a handgun without a manual safety! I sell SCCY's and Springfield's to many people and I refuse to buy or sell any of the models that do not have a manual safety. I think hammerless without a manual safety carried cocked and locked is asking for a round in the lower extremities at some point in time. JMHO!!!!

I agree, I've heard tales like that before. When they first came out my cousen had one blow up in his hand while fireing it. Then a police shooting instructer who used to load for me had a Glock 45 do the same to him, but that was years ago also. I dont care for that little trigger safety thing, I feel that when you are amped up in a hostile situation and go for the draw you may fire a round into your lower extremities.

Several people have before and I for one choose not to exercise my God given right to carry in that manner with that brand. The new SCCY 9MM has no manual safety and it is hammerless DA! I don't particularly care for that. I have shown a couple of them to experienced shooters that own glocks and they have no problem with it. Boy oh Boy I sure do!

My Sig P250 is hammerless and DA, it's ok, but it took a lot to get used to. I was suprised how accurate it is though.I still like a hammer, safety or decocker.

I own several poly, striker fired pistols with no manual safeties.
And while I do wish at least the XD/XDm and Walther P99 had them, I have had no problems from them at all, ever. And the XD/XDm at least has a grip safety on them.

Not going to carry a hammerless DA without a manual safety of some kind. I guess the grip safety might pacify me but nothing less than that! I just am not comfortable with that!!

I had a G19C but sold it recently for a few reasons:
1. Ugly
2. Ugly
3. No Safety
4. Ugly
5. Ugly

But, let me be very clear, I will still accept the 1st Annual prize.

Just don't care for the things. I will not carry one. Might shoot one on the range and run some ammo through it but I will not carry one!

I still want to get a 1911 that shoosts 9mm.

Yah I know it's not a true 1911 but 45 cap cost so much compared to 9mm.

Don't have the money to buy the set up. And I'm not sure that my friend in Jeff has his any more.
That and I like 9mm. But I like 1911s. See my dilemma.
