Absulutly.. I am enjoying it. The other forum that Freedom and I attend is too politically correct for my likeing, and some of the contributers are too into themselves and the guns that they prefer, that when some people ask for info on something they only get half truths or biased opinions. I've respectfully challenged several.

Man it sounds like Armageddon out here! I am enjoying the heck out of it. Dove season is in full swing! I live across the road from some public hunting land and the last few days I have been sitting in my chair reading and listening to the wonderful sounds of shotguns in the air! I don't know if they are getting any birds but they sure as hell are shooting a lot of shells!!!!! LMAO! Probably half or more of them do not even know what a dove looks like!!!!!!!!

AO with 00 buckshot they would be blown into nest Wednesday.

VV glad you enjoyed the link and I hope AO dont take that grenade launcher to court
to sway the jury. LOL

I felt compelled to edit this post... I'm watching the miltary channel at this moment, they are protraying the history of the hand grenade and what do you know here come the 1903 bolt action and the M1 Garand. They showed the M1 fireing from the butt being stuck on the ground, then held to the shoulder. That sucker did kick some when fired from the shoulder. The soldier looked like he was leaning forward to fire and then was knocked back. Very impressive. Hey VV did you ever get any play time on the M79? Another impressive piece.

Green pouch and elevation attacahment to go on stock of M1 Garand compliments of UF!! Thanks UF! We are getting closer! I know I need to straighten the fins on the blue inert grenade dummy! I think I can make a jig that will help me keep from breaking the fins as I straighten them. However, if there are any suggestions from experience, man oh man am I open to them! Don't be bashful as all suggestions and comments will be taken in the spirit of a group project and help being given! Who knows, we may have to have a gathering to blow this thing up or something!!! Now if anybody has any info on the blanks or ammo that is to be used in the M1 Garand to propel this thing into the air once I get it assembled and mounted correctly, I would appreciate the info! Rather get the info from someone that has some experience with this thing than to find out the hard way (which is usually the way I find oout things) and keep from blowing myself and it both up at the same time!!! LMAO!! Don't be bashful as I am sure some of you guys kow a hell of a lot more than I do. I am learning but things that go click boom are not what I need learning experiences on!! Share what you know!!

I have to go to GP's day at the school with all four of them! Leaving in a few minutes to pick them up and take them out to eat a bite before we go to the school. May not get anything done with the M1 tonight but I guarantee it will be mounted by tomorrow evening and more pictures available. Oh just one more I ran across while looking into the grenade launcher setup that I had to share. Again, I am sure some of you have more experience and will be able to appreciate this poster more than I can just yet!!

I APOLOGIZE FOR THE LANGUAGE BUT IT WAS ON THE POSTER, I DID NOT PUT IT THERE!! IF YOUR EYES AND EARS ARE TENDER, PLEASE MOVE ALONG AND DO NOT READ!!

OK!!! I just ran across a 25 pound bag of 00 buck I have had for 35 years or longer!!! If I decide to go live wiith an explosive device of some kind down the road, 00 buck would be one hell of a package to deliver!!!!! LMAO! I want to be up range from it at least the 300 yards it says it's effective range is!!!

I have located the original screws for the mount on the stock of the M1 Garand! Helps to have some old goofballs like me around that save everything associated with guns and military stuff!!! I also have borrowed the page of instructions that came with the sight elevation mount on the stock so I will scan it and print it out for a copy to go with mine!! Now I am back to the blanks and will have that problem solved by the weekend!!! May not have them in hand by then but will know what I have to get and they will be on the way from somewhere!!! YEEEEEEE HAAAAAAAWWWWWWW! KAWABUNGA!!!!!!!!!!!! The pasture will never be the same!!!!!

Ok lets think about this, If you were to get a pair of duck bill visegrips, you can open them up and clamp them real close to the crease in the bent fin, then carefully unbend the fin. keep looking below the vise grips to make sure that it is not bending at the base where it is attached. If it is then you may want to come in from the side where you can see the bend angle and with pliers squeeze the bend ever so slightly, moveing along the bent angle in small increments. If you squeeze to much at once you will put a crease diagonally along the bend line. Once you get it fairly staight, you can get a piece of steel thick wnough that will be able to cover the bend full length, and long enough that you can put in a vice so that the steel is above the jaws of the vise. you can put the fin with the "v" portion of the fin faceing so the v is upside down, in other words picture this v upside down, then with a small ball pein or smooth face claw hammer you can tap on the upside down v slightly in increments along the crease. Back and forth and it will come close to the orginal form. Patience is key. Are you confused? I'll look to see if there is anything on the subject. Do you know a blacksmith that does more than horse shoes? Like makeing gate hinges or lamps parts? If so that is the man that can help. The thicker the metal the more you have to work it.[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

It is not really thick metal. Do you remember the older beer cans that were pretty thick and heavy? It is about the thickness of two layers of that! I think if needed a very small amount of heat and taking it very slowly will provide the answer as UF described it. Now I do not have a blacksmith shop in my work area. However, I have a mig and a tig welder, Miller Big 50 diesel, plasma cutter, propane torch, oxy acetelyne torch and one heck of a big cutting torch that we sued to cut cuto bodies up in pieces with! So, I think my bud that still works at the SO (full time welder once upon a time) and me can tear up something anyway!! If we can't fix it, it will never work again and that is for sure!!!!! If I get in trouble with it I will yell like crazy but I do think UF has it pegged. We will do it a little at a time and very slowly. Now I have to find a couple of pineapple grenades and the adaptor to put on the end of the launcher to make it fit them!!! More by the weekend!!!! (after some more reading!)

I got to do some more reading tonight and this may be the round I am looking for to make it work. I did verify that I have all components to make the inert grenade pictured earlier work as soon as I get a blank round to fire it with! By God it is getting closer!

I will have to check my reloading supplies but I think the biggest thing I am set up to reload is in the 7MM and 8MM variety. I don't think the dies for that will be the same as for the dummy round for this thing. Anyway, all I have to have is get my hands on one or two and I will get the stuff so I can reload it!!! I have not messed with the fins yet on the dummy round but that's rather insignificant in the grand scheme of things to come. I expect a 10 to 15 minute repair on it! I do think I need a couple of more rounds for the launcher or I will spend all my time running after the darn thing!!! LMAP!!!

That looks doable!!! I will get several on order this evening and see if I can't determine what it will take to reload them! That's what will make it worthwhile if I can reload a dummy round to use for under $.50 per round! I can handle that and get a lot of practive in too!!! I AM GOING TO NEED IT!

I think a few rounds down range and you willhave it mastered. With the tregectury guage on it, it becomes a no brainer. What do you think VV, they aint too hard to master.

I have a copy of teh original sheet where the trajectory angles are deciphered into down range yards! Now if I can just get the ammo figured out and the rest put together I will be dangerous!!!!!!!!!! I will try to scan the sheet in and post it tomorrow if I can get it to work!

Well business is picking up!!! In every way! This is getting crazy. I was all set to get out early tomorrow afternoon and play with the new toy but I had a firm from CA call that I have helped out before and I have to go to court tomorrow 75 miles from my office! Then I have to be back to home base for a 1:30 hearing and a 2:30 appointment in the office! I just lost all the play time tomorrow so I got the shaft again! But, look at what I have now!!!

Man oh man! Think I can't blow up some sh** now!!! I got the blanks, the mounting stud was already on the barrel (which means it has had one of these things mounted on it before) the holes on the left side of the stock were already drilled out for the mount for the leveling system & angle trajectory sighting device (or whatever you call the damn thing)!!! I am now searching for the adaptor for the pineapple grenade and a couple of pineapple dummy grenades. I saw some at the last gun show at Market Hall in Dallas. It is a couple of more months until the next gun show down there but I will get them and experiment with them also. I will pick up another couple of more M31 Inert grenades (like the blue one in the pictures) so I can shoot more than once before I have to pick up and move to fire again! I was all excited about getting the thing ready and shooting it this weekend but it may not happen until next week. Court all day Friday and Gkids (all four) Friday night and Saturday night. Sunday they go home but I don't know if I will be in any shape to lug this thing out and shoot it after they all leave. We will see. But, nice thing, I had a jury trial get bumped for next week which means I had the whole week held open for trial and now there is a complete open week. I will pick out a day and block the whole darn thing out to go to Frank's west of my house and shoot this thing. We may get the volunteer fire department to come out and set up to be the safety monitors for this expedition!!! LMAO! They enjoy getting to see some of this stuff too!

Nice going AO, looks like you did a fine job on fin straightening. That's a nice set up you have. Keep your mind on your clients if it wasn't for them your toys would be a lot fewer. If you wait a week it's no big deal, it's not like it will get moldy or anything. Good luck at court and safe shooting.
