Darn fine piece of machinery! Just got it today and I need to take it to my gunsmith buddy just to check it out. He is in Wisconsin at some dang airshow! I will catch up to him next week and have a range report on how it does. It looks real fine and appears to be from the mid 50's. I am excited over this "little" rifle and am really looking forward to shooting it and getting it sighted in.

WooHoo!!!!

Batteries were down from the trip to Galveston end of the week last week. I will have new batteries tonight and get some posted. It is a real looker, not all beat up and scratched like most you run across. Got a couple of things to do to it such as a strap and oiler but other than that, it is a darn nice carbine. Get finished with it and the next thing is the Garand.

First rule is, without pictures it didn't happen. lol!

Secondly, that "little" rifle must weigh a ton by now in comparison to all the new light weight technology.

It is all there but in comparison to me 06 and the 7MM, it is nothing. I can understand why they thought the carbine was the answer because it was so much lighter and you could carry more ammo. Only problem from what I have read was you needed twice as much ammo for it rather than just one or two shots from the old Garand! can't wait until next week so I can get it out on my gunsmith buddy's work bench and then fire it on his range. We use iron sights at 200 yards to zero them and it works great. I really enjoy the skill it takes to shoot like that. Real challenge, for me anyway!!

Went to my bud's house last night to grab a bite to eat and visit for a few. He owns a battery store and got new batteries for the camera. Then instead of taking care of business with the pictures got sidetracked with helping to hand some rock and smearing mud so he could texture some walls today. His other half has him remodeling two bathrooms and the kitchen/dining area. SO - pictures this evening with the new batteries.

I got the batteries but now my better half says it is time to cut the grass around the tank. We lost another duck last night and she thinks it is because of the high grass around the bank! I will get the pictures a little later this evening when I get the grass cut!

Pay no attention to the garage photos! At least I did finally get the photos taken and posted!!! Will make a trip to the gunsmiths next week and when we get finished, I will take some better photos and show you how nice it really is. Wood matches great and just one minor problem that makes me want to have it looked at before I shoot it. More next week!

Sweet. What are the holes or grooves cut in to the end of the stock?

That gets me to thinking about a new Shotgun Rossi has coming out. Based around the Taurus Judge.
It is a 5 shot revolver rifle/carbine. It's a long gun any way.
As much as I don't like things made by Taurus because of the rep and all. I think I like this and would be interested in getting one.

The Circuit Judge, offered in a blued finish with a beautiful hardwood Monte Carlo stock, delivers amazing versatility, accuracy and simplicity. It also includes the latest in modern features such as a single-action/double-action trigger, fiber optic front sight, yoke detent, cushioned recoil pad, transfer bar and the Taurus Security System.

The Rossi revolution of firearm design and manufacture started with the founding of the company in 1889 by Amadeo Rossi. For the past 120 years, the tradition of innovation grew along with the company and the Rossi family. The Rossi name represents a piece of firearms history and a tradition of excellence.

In 2008, Rossi production was acquired by Forjas Taurus S.A. Rossi is the industry-leading manufacturer of single-shot, matched pairs, muzzleloaders, rifles and shotguns. The acquisition integrates perfectly with the quality of firearms currently produced by Taurus International and will expand the ability to produce quality firearms at reasonable prices as well as dedication to creating new and exciting Rossi products. Today, a Rossi firearm still features the same dedication and innovation in every firearm. Now, as part of Taurus International, Rossi looks forward to providing you with the next generation of great firearms.

The complete line of Rossi firearms features the exclusive Taurus Security System, which utilizes a key to lock the firearm and offers additional safety for youth. All Rossi firearms also incorporate a transfer bar mechanism and a manual safety on a single shot, break-open design in which the breech cannot be closed or opened if the hammer is cocked.

The holes in the stock are where the sling goes. I have the sling off of it and will put it back next week after the trip to the gunsmith. Can't wait. I think it is going to be a keeper!

That is a nice one, goodluck with it. My father used one when they were doing building to building clearing in France and in Normandy. He said it worked well when you didn't have much room to turn.
