PostSubject: Browning BDA   Fri Jun 25, 2010 11:19 am

This week I saw a used Browning BDA (Browning Double Action) at a local gun shop and it grabbed my eye immediately. It's a .380 acp and just a bit larger than my Walther PPK/S. When I held it I knew it was made for my hand, it had a very comfortable feel. The price was $499 which I don't think was too bad but of course it depends on how it's been treated or mistreated.
Does anyone here know anything about this gun? The one thing I don't like is the DA only trigger, for some season they just don't feel natural to me.

Don't know anything about the gun but I agree that DAO triggers don't feel right.
In fact the only type of gun that has a DA trigger that feels right to me is a revolver. Most if not all my other pistols are DA/SA or striker fired, and that is what is most comfortable to me.

I agree, DA's were designed for revolvers and they should stay there, in my opinion.

As an example of why DA should stay on revolvers look at the Smith&Wesson Sigma.
It is a DAO pistol with a long heavy trigger. Mechanically probably a very sound pistol but the heavy DAO trigger makes it a real pain in the ass to shoot.
Don't own one. But a good friend of mine bought one and is regretting it now.
The trigger and the front accessory rail which nothing fits. If he decides to keep it he will have to buy an adapter for it. A gun that could have been a good seller for SW were it not for two serious issues that SW has no intentions or is to stupid to realize they need to fix.

The Sigma SW9VE was the first semi that I owned and the trigger was an issue but, I called S&W and complained about a rough trigger and they paid for it to be shipped back to them and they re-worked it. It was much better when I got it back and to this day I regret selling it.
It's perfect for HD.
Tell your friend to call them. I bought mine used at Gander Mountain but it didn't matter. S&W knows there's a problem and they are anxious to appease owners.
The most he would get for it is $150
