U.N. Gun Threat: ATT ‘Will Have A Real Impact’


At the United Nations in New York City this week, the world’s nations began finalizing language for a legally binding global treaty that some believe will strip U.S. gun owners of their 2nd Amendment rights.



Meeting through July 27, 193 members of the U.N., along with non-governmental organizations, the NRA, public-interest groups, and firearms and other arms-industry representatives, are convening at the Conference on the Arms Trade Treaty (ATT).

Purported to prevent the transfer of weapons to armed groups and terrorists, ATT has been in the works since 2006. Supporters of the treaty say it will close loopholes that allow arms dealers to evade the strict laws that already exist in countries like the U.S. and transfer guns through weaker states.

Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon opened the conference by saying, “Our common goal is clear: a robust and legally binding Arms Trade Treaty that will have a real impact on the lives of those millions of people suffering from the consequences of armed conflict, repression and armed violence. It is ambitious, but it is achievable.”

After the conference opened, representatives from the U.K., France, Germany and Sweden issued a statement that the treaty “should cover all types of conventional weapons, notably including small arms and light weapons, all types of munitions, and related technologies.”

Language like that troubles Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky, who said, “Ultimately, the U.N. Small Arms Treaty is designed to register, ban and confiscate firearms owned by private citizens,” Paul said. “So far, the gun-grabbers have successfully kept the exact wording of their new scheme under wraps. But looking at previous versions of the U.N. Small Arms Treaty, you and I can get a good idea of what’s likely in the works.”

The State Department has issued a series of key U.S. “redlines,” or statements, that the ATT must supposedly address:
•The Second Amendment to the Constitution must be upheld.
•There will be no restrictions on civilian possession or trade of firearms otherwise permitted by law or protected by the U.S. Constitution.
•There will be no dilution or diminishing of sovereign control over issues involving the private acquisition, ownership, or possession of firearms, which must remain matters of domestic law.
•The U.S. will oppose provisions inconsistent with existing U.S. law or that would unduly interfere with our ability to import, export, or transfer arms in support of our national security and foreign policy interests.
•The international arms trade is a legitimate commercial activity, and otherwise lawful commercial trade in arms must not be unduly hindered.
•There will be no requirement for reporting on or marking and tracing of ammunition or explosives.
•There will be no lowering of current international standards.
•Existing nonproliferation and export control regimes must not be undermined.
•The ATT negotiations must have consensus decision making to allow us to protect U.S. equities.
•There will be no mandate for an international body to enforce an ATT.

Despite the State Department’s so-called redlines, opponents of the treaty—the terms of which have not yet been made public—believe the ATT will eventually:
•Enact tougher licensing requirements, making law-abiding Americans cut through even more bureaucratic red tape just to own a firearm legally
•Confiscate and destroy all “unauthorized” civilian firearms
•Ban the trade, sale, and private ownership of all semi-automatic weapons
•Create an international gun registry, setting the stage for full-scale gun confiscation

Former U.N. ambassador John Bolton has cautioned gun owners to take this initiative seriously, stating that the U.N. “is trying to act as though this is really just a treaty about international arms trade between nation states, but there is no doubt that the real agenda here is domestic firearms control.”

Because a draft of the treaty hasn’t been and won’t likely be released before the end of the conference, gun advocates are worried that the worst elements of ATT would be concealed so that citizen lobbying against it couldn’t be organized in time to defeat it.

Political analyst Dick Morris has said he believes President Obama will sign the ATT on July 27, setting the stage for U.S. Senate advise and consent hearings during the lame-duck session after this year’s elections. He predicts that during that session, President Obama could enlist two-thirds of the Senate required to approve a treaty and get a resolution of ratification.

If that prediction comes true, then the enforcement arms for ATT in the U.S. would be the Justice Dept. and ATF.



This is a shame that it has come to this. Romney and Little Hitler are in a dead heat in the polls. Most likely it will come down to the electoral collage in determining the winner, and we all know how that vote will end. We are in some troubling times, not only our nation, but all the nations of the world. We have the deck stacked against us and we I'm afraid are going by the way of the Dodo bird and the Wooly Mammouth. Gun confiscation will be only a couple years away. We might have had a chance if pelosi and harry reid were defeated in their last terms, but with those 2 idiots running interferance on every bill that is introduced in the Senate by the Good members of the houses, we are dead in the water. I for one will go ahead and shoot my guns with wifey, until that dreadful day come along. I will then take a hammer to them and turn them in. Why you may ask. I went back this week and read about Ruby Ridge and the incident at Waco Texas. These IMO were sanctioned murders by the government . I realized that when it comes to illegal politicals gaining control, there is nothing anyone can do about it. The agent that killed woman at Ruby Ridge walked, they bulldozed over the Branch Devidian compound in order to cover up all incriminating evidence. These people that are in control are nuts and will use any means available to crush any resistance that may occur. They have been planning this since before clinton got into the White House I beleive that they have done their homework and have all scenerios worked out. I am in disbeleif with all that has happened in the 40 years or so with what the politicians have done to our nation. It is out of my hands and out of our nation's hands. We have been invaded by our enemies without a shot being fired. So for now I will shoot what I got, then store it in the old memory bank under fond memories. Then go on with my merry way. Life is too short and I have family that depends on me. I will continue to go to Ma's house to help her and go to work like I usually do, until these idiots totally bankrupt us and put us into the worst world wide depression that no one will be able to pull us out of except for Jesus Christ himself. when that happens(the depression), I will just go fishing to get a good old fish fry meal. Unless they confiscate my fishing hooks too.I wonder if I can use a net. It was fun while it lasted.

I'm sure that it is. If the Senate passes this BS, we are all serfs. I can not rise up against the agents that will be thrown into our neighborhoods. I thought long and hard on this. These young men and women are only doing their jobs. They have families just like we do. How many times have we seen LEOs killed in the line of duty and leave their spouses alone to raise their children. I also thought about the resisters and their children and grandchildren. It bothers me deeply that this might come to be, and for what? For some stinking leaders in Europe that are just too damn power hungry and for the same in this country. To be so power hungry to beat up on your own people. For what? Because you can??? That's just sick and our Lord and Saviour will deal with them and I believe it wont be too long before that occurs. Like I said up top in this post when it comes down to the end of our freedoms, I will adapt in order to survive is this upcoming miserable society. Who would ever guess that in the short time of some 200+ years we have evolved into something no better then a sesspool. If something was to have been done, it should have happened when Ruby Ridge and Waco accurred. We should have gone to the streets and protested then. But instead we sat on our hands and let it go by like the stench picked up by the wind, figuring that sooner or later the wind will change in a differant direction. Now....no matter which way the wind blows, there is a stench that accompanys it. The stench is all around us now. You can not say that I am afraid because I am not, I just dont want to get into something I dont think anyone can win. Think of the children.

There are many cumbersome ways to kill a man.
You can make him carry a plank of wood
to the top of a hill and nail him to it. To do this
properly you require a crowd of people
wearing sandals, a cock that crows, a cloak
to dissect, a sponge, some vinegar and one
man to hammer the nails home.

Or you can take a length of steel,
shaped and chased in a traditional way,
and attempt to pierce the metal cage he wears.
But for this you need white horses,
English trees, men with bows and arrows,
at least two flags, a prince, and a
castle to hold your banquet in.

Dispensing with nobility, you may, if the wind
allows, blow gas at him. But then you need
a mile of mud sliced through with ditches,
not to mention black boots, bomb craters,
more mud, a plague of rats, a dozen songs
and some round hats made of steel.

In an age of aeroplanes, you may fly
miles above your victim and dispose of him by
pressing one small switch. All you then
require is an ocean to separate you, two
systems of government, a nation's scientists,
several factories, a psychopath and
land that no-one needs for several years.

These are, as I began, cumbersome ways
to kill a man. Simpler, direct, and much more neat
is to see that he is living somewhere in the middle
of the twentieth century, and leave him there.
