PostSubject: A ? about Metalform magazines.   Sat Nov 13, 2010 2:51 pm

Until yesterday I had never heard of Metalform but I had sent back my Fusion to Bob Serva for a few minor upgrades and when it came back it had an empty mag in the the gun. I took it out and examined it and discovered something I had never seen before. Here's what I saw:

After a Google search I found out they are made by Metalform and are for sale at Brownells:

Can you imagine? $55.83 for one magazine? The only observable difference I saw was the follower was different from all my Wilson and Tripp mags because instead of having a concave surface it has a convex surface. You can see it in the third photo.
I'm sure you guys have seen these before so explain to me how they justify the the price.

Technological advantages and labor costs! They found a gimmick that works and the labor costs to produce it coupled with the liability insurance costs factored in make it terrible. Now when they figure out how to buy the raw material cheaper and move the production and assembly offshore for cheaper labor, the cost will be just about half of what they are now!! Not funny but realistic!!

You just got to want one bad enough to pay the price based on their representations they work better!!! Not sure I would pay that for one unless I read morea than a couple of reviews!!

This mag is a horse of a different color I think. I can't find anybody who's heard of them before.

UF,
Thanks, very interesting info but a bit out dated I think. The mag in my possession doesn't reflect any of the problems discussed.
Besides that there was no discussion about price.

Go to the Bing search engine and type in Metalform. There is a few more sites there. I just opened a couple of them and copied their properties without reaking too much, although I did notice the dates were old. Also when you get to the bottom of the page there maybe more pages to click on to. good luck good buddy.

I am interested in what you think of them! Not saying I would order a dozen or so but if they are what they are hawking, I might spring for a couple and put them in my Kimber concealed carry!!

I'll let you know what happens and the lady on the phone said they would maybe ship on Friday. I know, it doesn't sound like the right answer but we'll see.

First of all I don't think any gun maker would build a 1911 that required a $60 magazine even though they do seem to have something going for them.
